Dr. Lydia Caros


Dr. Caros is the Executive Director of NACC. She is also the staff Pediatrician. She has served the Native American community in the Phillips neighborhood since 1983. She was one of the founders of NACC which opened in 2003.

 

Dr. Caros has a special interest and experience in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. She received specialized training in this condition at the University of Washington.  She and the other NACC physicians designed a clinical system for detailed screening prenatal alcohol use and support for high risk woman.

In a clinical partnership with Dr Chang at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Caros evaluates over 300 children per year for FASD. She also gives training on FASD around the state.

 

Dr. Caros attended Wilmington College in Ohio and then received her medical degree from the Des Moines University of Medicine and Health Science in Iowa. She did her an internship at Iowa Methodist Medical Center then completed residency training in Pediatrics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She is board certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Board of Pediatrics.
